So Doggone Lonely

When I go to sleep at night
There's no-one in my bed.
She walked out of my life
Just cos our kid was dead.

[CHORUS]
So doggone lonely,
No woman in my life...
So doggone lonely,
No girl to call my wife...

She was sitting in a bar
With her red hair looking fine,
So I bought her a beer
Cos I had to make her mine.

[CHORUS]

Our baby came along
And everything was sweet -
Bought a truck and a dog
And my life it was complete.

[CHORUS]

I went to see the doctor
I got dust in my lungs
And my drinking got real bad
When my boy died so young.

[CHORUS]

But she didn't have to leave me
Or marry my best friend
But I guess that cos I hit her
It was my fault in the end.

So doggone lonely,
No woman in my life...
So doggone lonely,
No girl to call my wife...
So doggone lonely
So doggone lonely
So doggone lonely
No girl to call my wife...

So I'm looking at the pretty girls
Sat in this downtown bar
Now all I've got's my cowboy boots
And a burnt out old guitar

[CHORUS to fade]
